Under the Rose Arch

Unicorns and Butterflies
I’ve never felt like I belonged
In this world where humans live
The values that the humans have
The way they talk, the way they act
Has never really been for me
Because I am no human being
I’m a troll, one of the forest folk
And while humans dreamed of gold and fame
Of fancy homes and designer clothes
All I ever dreamed about
Was unicorns and butterflies
But now I’ve met another troll
A beautiful and pretty troll
With deep dark eyes and a lovely smile
The cutest nose and wild brown hair
She has captured my whole heart
And she is my dearest friend
The only place I want to be
Is right there where she happens to be
Yes, I’m in love with a little troll
And she likes me a whole lot too
And all we’ll ever dream about
Is unicorns and butterflies
The town is grey, the concrete hard
The air is dirty, the people strange
This is no world for shy little trolls
But I don’t think I’ll ever more be sad
And I don’t think I’ll ever more be scared
I don’t see the ugly now
I don’t see the painful now
I am living in my dreams
I see only pretty things
I see only rainbow paths
And unicorns and butterflies
Let the humans fight if it’s what they want
If all they care for is greed and war
‘Cause if the human world becomes too rough
We’ll just run back into our forest home
Where our darling puppy wolves are waiting us
And we’ll be walking in our forest realm
In the lakes we’ll swim and laugh
And in the nights we’ll gently sing
About unicorns and butterflies
In the nights we’ll gently sing
About unicorns and butterflies
